Over the past few weeks there has been an ongoing theme that has popped up. Whether it was business or family related, the problem always seemed to be that there was too much going on at one time. Rather than making any real progress in anything, I would jump from idea to idea to idea.
All that being said, from here on out I will be using the 1-1-1 method of productivity when it comes to finishing a project. This is something that is going to help you complete something that is fulfilling, get new business, or just have the sense of accomplishment. Yes, this is something that I’ve dreamt up and it works.
What Is The 1-1-1 Method
The basis of the 1-1-1 method is simple – almost too simple. It won’t manage all of your tasks throughout the day, but it will help you to accomplish big tasks that will make a huge impact in your life.
The idea goes like this:
- You focus on only 1 project – No jumping around from idea to idea. No multi-tasking on several projects. No wasting time on things that don’t matter. Pick oine thing that will make you better, your family better, or your business better.
- You will ONLY spend 1 hour a day or LESS on that project – No matter what the project is, you will only spend AT MOST 1 hour a day on it. that doesn’t seem long but say you work on a project 6 days a week; that’s 24 hours in a month. 20 – 24 hours a month is more than enough time to make something happen. Plus, the constraint of an hour will empower you to do more in that hour than you ever thought possible.
- You will spend no less than 1 month on that project (unless you finish it) – It is very easy to quit early on something that you want. You start checking stats, or don’t see any results after a few days and you get discouraged. With the 1-1-1 method you MUST work on your project for at least a month. That way you will have enough time to truly see a return on your investment. Plus, you will know FOR SURE if something is worth it or not.
That’s it. One project, one hour a day, for one month. After a year you will have 12 projects completed – what if all of those endeavors make you a better person or make you money in some way? Powerful!
All that said, I will be keeping track of my progress on this blog and hope you will too. I have something special for those who stuck with me on the newsletter – but you’ll have to wait just a little bit longer to find out what it is.
