If you are like me, you spend a LOT of hours looking at the wrong things that feel like they are the right things. Whether it is checking your blog stats, seeing if your newest product sold, or checking the sports scores. While those things feel like they are getting you from point-A to point-B, they are usually ways to avoid doing things that actually matter.
How can you tell if what you are doing is pushing you in the right direction?
Well… I am going to share a little secret, powerful, and FREE tool that I’ve used for quite a while to help keep things moving in the direction that they should. This tool is especially helpful if you own a business but can be used with just about everything.
The Concrete Goals Tracker
This little beauty (The Concrete Goals Tracker) was developed by the designer David Seah and is focused on one thing – helping you to only do the things that matter.
The concept is simple, you list the items that are important to your goals or to your business and you get a certain amount of points for completing those goals per day. Not all of the items are worth the same amount of points thought.
For example, if you run a business it is much more important to get paid clients than it is to write a blog post. That being the case, getting paid would be worth 10 points, where a blog post may be worth 2. Obviously the goal is to try and get to where the larger point tasks happen more frequently.
The Value of This System
This is definitely not a long-term productivity system – that’s not the goal. The primary purpose of this system is to change your habits. If you want to stop wasting your time and focus on the things that will bring you more success and fulfillment, then the system qorks quite well.
It is also amazingly effective if you are trying to start a new company. A lot of new entrepreneurs focus on buying business cards, getting a website, etc. The ready-made freelancer edition of the tool shows you right away what is most important – getting new clients and getting paid.
If you are looking for a great way to reach a particular goal or just to change a habit – you really need to check out this tool. It’s only a PDF, but it can really shape the way that you look at life and where to focus your time.
